The Grenfell Tower Fire
On 14 June 2017, a high-rise fire broke out in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower block of flats in North Kensington, West London, 72 people died, including two who later died in hospital. More than 70 others were injured and 223 people escaped. It was the deadliest structural fire in the United Kingdom since the 1988 Piper Alpha oil-platform disaster and the worst UK residential fire since World War II. (Source: Wikipedia)
Who we are
The Grenfell Trust has always had ambitious and long term goals. It was initially set up by a group of bereaved families to provide a lifeline of support for the bereaved, survivors and the local community affected by the Grenfell Fire.
It aims at creating a more coordinated approach to solving the challenges that the people affected by the fire were facing. In order to do that we had to be the critical friend of both local authorities and London and central government as well as the public health and CCGs.
